Best Coffee Storage
How do you keep your coffee fresh?
At Rombouts immediately after roasting and grinding the coffee is packed the air is flushed out to keep the coffee fresh; in addition each pack is fitted with a special valve to ensure maximum freshness.
Once a pack is opened and the coffee comes into contact with the air the wonderful flavours and aromas (aromatics) of the coffee are easily lost. The oxygen in the air starts reacting with the natural oils a process known as oxidation which makes the coffee go stale. So storing the coffee properly is essential.
- After opening, seal tightly and place in an airtight container.
- Leave the coffee in the original packaging to reduce exposure to air.
- Keep this container in the fridge, but ensure it is sealed coffee can quickly absorb any other smells!
- Keep the coffee dry and in the dark. Light and air break down the aroma of the coffee.
- To preserve coffee for even longer place in the freezer in a tightly sealed container. The coffee will hold its flavour for up to 3 months.
- Ideally, use the coffee within two weeks of opening to ensure it remains deliciously fresh, full of flavour and aromatic.
